About Mr. Lehman and his classes

Picture
Welcome to my website.  This is my 5th year teaching in the Burlington-Edison school district and my 3rd year here at Bay View.  This is also my 5th year coaching football at the high school.  Besides teaching I enjoy spending time with my wife Amelia(who teaches 6th grade at Bay View) and my 2 year old daughter Malia.  I also enjoy getting outside by golfing and swimming in the summer and snowboarding and snowmobiling in the winter.

7th grade Social Studies is a year long course that starts off by reviewing/learning some basic social studies skills.  For example we will look at the 5 themes of geography and how they influence the world around us.  Most of the year will be spent studying Washington State history from the time of the frontier all the way up to issues facing our state today.  The class will also have a focus on current events and learning about the importance of being a responsible citizen.

8th grade U.S. History is a course that studies the history of our country from exploration through the Civil War.  The units of study include; Exploration, Colonization, 13 colonies, Revolution Era, Constitution/Government, Foundations, Slavery and Civil War Era.  In this course students will be expected to read, write, analyze, debate, take notes and take exams on the material.

I look forward to a fantastic year and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions  jlehman@be.wednet.edu
